Samih Hassan El-Yaman & Sons factories (Zahle-Saida)

 

Were founded by the great grandfather Mahmoud El-Yaman in Saida city in 1882. It was the first factory in the region to produce this kind of food product. It was also the first to incorporate machinery in its production process with the assistance of “Crop” factories in Germany.

After several decades, this industry developed to a more mature phase; this was translated by the opening of another factory in Zahle, the capital of the Bekaa valley, in 1946. This period was marked by a great success and quality enhancing measures, a fact that boosted sales and kept the name “El-Yaman” further away from competition.

Just like the Carrob Molassis, the Grape Molassis, Dry Figs, Raisin and Walnuts. The industry falls under the “traditional Lebanese food products” category. It suits a nutritional diet for it is free from any chemical substance. The Halawa is considered a complete nutrient, for both adults and children, since it is made out of sesame grains that are rich in vitamins and constitute the source of the famous “sesame oil”, which is utilized in the treatment of certain illnesses. Sesame paste or Tahina is a reknown ingredient of the Lebanese cuisine. It is associated to more than twenty Lebanese dishes consumed worldwide.
